This paranormal romance, written in multiple first person POV, is well written, action packed and difficult to put down. I happen to enjoy paranormal romances, and this one didn't disappoint. The author left no stone unturned, proving that monsters like vampires and werewolves can co-exist, fighting with one another, and of course, loving the same girl.You might be thinking, "It's another Twilight." Not even close. While there are vampires and werewolves (sometimes fighting over the same girl), there's something different about this one.
Faith thinks she's just an ordinary girl. She always has been. Until now, of course. Soon she discovers that she is something more. A lot more.
Faith discovers that she is a witch. And, not just any witch, but the only witch left, a witch with a vampyre kiss that will have to go into battle against slayers and a hybrid.
Well, without giving anything away, Faith does have to go into battle. A fierce battle for the stolen blood gem that belongs to the vampires and the moon gem that belongs to the werewolves. It's imperative that the vampires and werewolves get their rightful gems back. But first, she must be trained in all that is witch. She studies with a shapeshifter named Akilah. He teaches her the ins and outs of being a witch, along with the vampyress, Morgan, that gave her the vampyre kiss when she was a child. Together, they make Faith a gifted witch, one that is required to defeat the slayers in the big battle for the blood and moon gems.
What are these gems, and why are they the center of this battle? Why is it imperative that they get them back? What happened between Faith's mother and father? And, since this is a romance, which one will Faith choose? The vampire Trent, or the werewolf, Zou Tai?
I enjoyed this book immensely, and will likely re-read it again. Why? For the loveable Volucris. What's that, you ask? Ah, I'll never tell. You'll have to read the book to find out.
I give this book 5 stars. A wonderful read that was hard to put down!

Vampyre Kisses is classified as a paranormal romance. Don't be fooled though, it isn't all touchy feely either. The premise of the story is that there are three main supernatural forces vampires, werewolves, and witches. There are others but these are the three big ones. Naturally, their presence is hidden from most humans. The first part of what makes this book unique is that it is actually explained why they stay hidden, and it is a little more complicated than just "scaring the masses" and starting a supernatural war (although that is a part of it). Actually, I found the back story of that unique and interesting, but I won't ruin it for you here. There are some humans that are in the know. As a result, each of the three major supernatural forces have a band of specially trained humans that are out to destroy them slayers (for the vampires), hunters (for the werewolves), and Salt Whips (for the witches).
Now enter Faith. She is a young woman, in her twenties, working a job that she can't stand and living a life that seems to be doomed to boring repetition. Her only source of any type of social life is her ex-boyfriend turned best-friend Mac. She has a strained relationship with her mother and her father, who she was very close to, died a few years previously. Then along comes Trent, and nothing would be the same again.
Trent is a 400 year old vampire. He is not a romantic. He notices Faith and his first thought is to take her to the Master to either be turned or drained, whichever she felt she wanted. There was a problem though. She is not like other human women. There is something different. There is a strange mark on her wrist. From there, Faith, and inevitably Mac, are brought into the supernatural world, introduced to an underground conflict that has raged through centuries. Vampires and Werewolves are at each others throats and witches are extinct . . . or are they?
What is the secret of Faith's father's death?
What is her mother hiding from her?
Who is Morgan and what is her relationship to Faith?
Why does Faith stir up feelings in an old soulless vampire like Trent?
What is the secret of the Vampyre Kiss?
As the plot thickens, there will be betrayal and plotting that lands vampire and werewolf side by side in a battle for their very survival, as well as the possible restoration of witches to the world.
The story is well developed and seems to have a bit of everything. Action, for the action junkies like me. Romance, and even a steamy sex scene for those that need it. A twist on the supernatural world that makes it more than just a rehash of vampire romance. And finally, an ending that will make you want to read the next book in the series, Werewolf Descent, A Paranormal Romance (The Last Witch Series #2).
